Moudre In The News!

Here is the news story posted by KSN-TV

Wichita, Kansas – Moudre Haunted House is now open in Wichita and the theme is more adult than kid-friendly.

“We don’t allow anyone in under the age of 14,” says Moudre’s Charlene Vinduska. “It’s a little bit more adult than most of the haunts in town.”

The haunted house adventure begins as you step in the front entrance and are greeted by “strippers” that look like ragged zombies.

“Don’t worry, we fully intend to comply with Wichita’s public nudity rules,” explains Vinduska. “But the dancers in this room will be a little racy.”

Those “zombie strippers” as Vinduska puts it, are something new for Wichita. City regulations require a woman’s chest to be clothed from the “top” down. But Vinduska says parents will still have to leave the little kids at home.

“We’ve talked with the girls about keeping it mild,” says Vinduska. “Actually most of my girls are even parents. So if they see a young child come in they’re not going to do something that is horribly inappropriate.”

Still, Vinduska says she hopes the racy nature of the haunted house brings in a lot of Kansans.

“The closest thing there is to this sexy-style haunted house is in Denver,” explains Vinduska. “We pride ourselves on being on the cutting edge of haunted houses.”

The Moudre will still have the usual fare of Halloween scare. After you are lured into the haunted “zombie” room, haunted house goers move to the blood and guts portion of the haunt.

“This is the cannibal room,” says Vinduska, “It’s just one of the scary rooms you have to endure once you’ve entered.”

The website for Moudre says “no one under the age of fourteen” but that does not mean no teens.

“In fact, we are targeting the sophomore, junior and senior in high school crowd,” says Vinduska. “And that twenty to thirty age group. We think it will be a big hit.”

Moudre is on Wichita’s west side just off the corner of Kellogg and Tyler.

It is open weekends for the Halloween season.
